We use a normal, in-contract SIM provided by you. We extract some information from the SIM which is then used to tell a mobile network that the number is now on their network.
This allows any messages sent to the number to come to us which we then handle as normal.
Yes, we recommend a contract SIM card. Pre-pay SIMs can be used, but full international roaming (to include Jersey) is required.
When we receive your SIM card we will extract some information from it, and use to setup the virtual SIM.
Yes. Whilst you can't directly receive inbound calls, you can setup 'call forwarding' on your SIM before sending it to us - this setup and any costs would be between you and your network.
You can send SMS to most countries using the VSIM number as your source address (sender ID); this is what is shown when the message arrives on a handset, which will enable replies.
The VSIM itself is not used for sending SMS, so you would send using the World Text platform via any of our interfaces (which include HTTP REST, SMPP, Email to SMS or Communicator Pro web SMS software) just paying for the messages you send.
